Joan Shinn Hunt, 94 of Ripley, passed away April 25, 2017 at Eldercare of Ripley following a long illness. She was born April 4, 1923 in Ripley, West Virginia a daughter of the late Charles O. and Flossie Parrish Shinn. She was a graduate of Ripley High School with the class of 1941 and attended the Marshall Perry Business School. Joan worked in the Jackson County Clerk and Circuit Clerk Offices for over 28 years. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church where she participated in the Golden Rule Sunday School Class, Loyalty Circle and Muffins and Mare. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Shinn Baker; brothers Charles “Huck” Shinn and Paul F. Shinn and nephew Douglas Shinn. She is survived by her son, Charles Benjamin “Benny” Hunt and his wife Brenda of Ripley; grandsons Charles Benjamin “Benjie” Hunt Jr. and his wife Amy of Greencastle, PA and Brett Edward Hunt and his wife Trina of Fairmont, WV; great grandchildren Ashleigh Anne Hunt and Jordan Benjamin Hunt of Greencastle, PA and Blake Edward Hunt of Fairmont; Nephews Bill Baker and wife Peggy of Melbourne, FL; niece Martha Taylor of Chapel Hill, NC; four great nieces and nephews and three great-great nieces and nephew. Funeral Service will be2:00 pm Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Dr. Ford Price and John Gunther officiating. Burial will be in the Fairplain Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of service (2:00 pm) on Saturday at the funeral home.
