John E. Bowman

John Emmet Bowman, 67 of Ripley, WV, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 20, 2025. John was born on January 3, 1958. John was the son of the late Shirley Mae Ramsey and the late Walter Harrison; however, he was lovingly raised by his maternal grandparents, the late John and Lena (Balser) Bowman. John was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Jorita Mae Bowman. John is survived by six brothers and sisters, Arthur (Timmy) Ramsey, II (Gina) and William (Willie) Ramsey (Sue) both of Sissonville, WV, Ona Elmore (Charles) of Ripley, WV, Ruby Kay of Spencer, WV, Ada (Arlene) Ramsey of Ripley, WV and Calvin Ramsey (Sabrina) of Jonesville, Va. He is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family would also like to mention and thank their cousin, Frannie Casto, for allowing John to share her home and being a such a good friend to him over the last few years. John was hard worker all of his life, working many different types of jobs, including owning his own cleaning business, JB’s Cleaning. He settled in as an overnight floor man at Walmart of Ripley, WV, where, after many years of service, he retired. John was a man of few words and most enjoyed a good cup of coffee, a cigarette and a western or sci-fi on TV. John was Christian, and although he had been unable to attend church for several years, he was a firm believer in the Lord, and was never afraid to share his beliefs with others. To know him, was to know someone special!! He will be missed by so many! At John’s request, he will be cremated and there will be no service. The family will gather at a later date to privately lay him to rest with his grandparents in Morgan Cemetery, Ripley, WV.
