John E. Petty

John Edward Petty, 84 of Sandyville, passed away suddenly on February 1, 2024 at his home.

He was born August 24, 1939 in Ft. Worth, TX, son of the late John E. and Alta Opal Rodgers Petty. John served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Appalachian Power Company with over 30 years of service and enjoyed fishing, reading and camping.

He is survived by his sons Lee Petty (Angie) of Sandyville and Frankie Slusher of Wood County; brother, George Lee Petty of Ft. Worth, TX; sisters Reta Sue Fox, Connie Bills and Betty Porter all of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren Josh Border (Tami), Amanda Border, and Tweetle Barker (Zach); great-grandchildren Issiah Border, Easton Border, Caleb Lane, Ethan Lane, Emma Barker, and Rylee Barker and one great great grandson, Waylon Lane

In addition to his parent’s he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Ila Margaret Petty; brother Sam Lloyd Petty and Thomas Kitchens, and sister Lilly Doris Davis

Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley.  Burial will be in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
