Joseph L. "Joe" Young

Joseph “Joe” Lee Young, 62, of Sandyville, WV was called to his heavenly home on August 26, 2022 He was born to Evalina Casto Young and the late Denver Young on December 27, 1959 in Ripley, WV. After graduating from Ripley High School, Joe enlisted in the Army where he served from 1979-1988. Most of his Army career was spent in Special Forces and some of his favorite memories were jumping from aircrafts. Upon completion of his service, he was employed as a truck driver for various companies. In recent years he had been employed with Constellium. Joe was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, a proud veteran and loved the Lord. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Joe is survived by his mother Evalina; siblings Steve Young of Ripley and Sharon (Rick) Watson of Sandyville; children Jeremy (Liz) Young of Tennessee, Joey Young of Ripley, Gabriele Fincham, Elizabeth Young and Tommy Young. His children provided him with 6 wonderful grandchildren. He is also survived by his fiancée, Sandy Shepherd, who he loved fiercely, and her children, Tonya (Scott) Jones, Danielle (Cody) Rhodes and her 4 grandchildren all of Sandyville. In addition to his father, Denver, Joe was preceded in death by grandparents Artist and Martha Casto and Thomas and Phoebee Young and his late wife, Debbie. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 31st at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Ed Austin officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with Military Rites rendered by the Jackson County Honor Guard will be in the Young Family Cemetery on Zion Ridge in Ripley.
