Joseph W. Stover

September 1, 1940 — July 20, 2024

Joseph Wendel Stover, 83 of Ripley, went home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2024 while in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following an extended illness.

Joe was born September 1, 1940 in Mason County, WV, son of the late Merlin and Macy Meadows Stover. He was a graduate of Nitro High School and after graduation served his country in the US Army. He worked as a Pipefitter with DuPont at their Belle Plant. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching baseball and basketball and all WVU Sports. He enjoyed going to flea markets and spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys was serving his Lord and attending church at his home church, The Goldtown Community Church.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Deloris King Stover; his children, Joseph W. (Ruth) Stover II, Karen (Eddie) Stover Bumpus and Mark Christopher (Kristin) Stover; his siblings, Steve (Joanne) Stover, Mike Stover and Jerry (Charlotte) Stover; his grandchildren, Dayna White, Haley Stover, Schuyler Stover and Jenna White; great grandchild, Nora Jenkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by and infant daughter and a sister, Carolyn Graley.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the Goldtown Community Church, Kenna with Pastors Al Mendez and Aaron Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Emma Chapel Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 am until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
