Joshua "Gilbert" Ashby

Joshua “Gilbert” Lee Ashby, 34, of Ripley passed away February 6, 2022 due to a short illness. He was a 2006 graduate from Sissonville High School and was employed by the City of Charleston. He enjoyed car shows, mud bogs, music and taking backroad trips with his family in his Ram. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Ashby; 3 chidlren, Travis, Gracie and Christopher; parents Bonnie (Scottie) Reed of Sissonville and Chuck Ashby of Liberty, Mamaw Joyce Ashby; sister Carrigan Ashby of Ripley; brothers Steven (Bethany) Fisher of Ripley, Alex (Amanda) Reed of Sissonville and Tucker Ashby of Ripley; Sister-in-law Michaela. Josh is also survived by several nephews and 2 BFFs Brandon Fox and Mark Rowley Jr of Charleston. Josh was preceded in death by grandparents Richard Ashby, Eva Stutler and Richard Stutler; uncle Chuck Diehl and BFF Chris Edens. The family would like to thank everyone for the love and prayers they have received. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 11th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Carl Casto officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
