Joyce Canterbury Cole

Joyce JoAnne Cole, 73 of Gallipolis, formerly of Ripley passed away October 3, 2012 at Holzer Medical Center following a long illness. She was born September 16, 1939 at Jackson County a daughter of the late Romie and Nancy Young Canterbury. She was a nurse's aide at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley and also worked at the Jackson County Public Library, Ripley Branch. Joyce loved spending time with her family and enjoyed reading and listening to Southern Gospel Music. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Markham of Powder Springs, GA; brothers Nelson "Pete" (Jo) Canterbury of Frame, Rev. Roy (Gaye) Canterbury of Tennessee, Clarence "Ben" (Ruby) Canterbury of Ripley, Romie (Yolanda) Canterbury of Charleston and Fred (Jane) Canterbury of Ravenswood; sisters Thelma Daugherty of N. Augusta, SC, Doris (Paul) Fitzpatrick of Cottageville, Connie Pauley of Gallipolis and Frankie Yeatman of Charleston; grandchildren Roger Ray (Julia) Cole of Christiansburg, VA, Rodney (Debbie) Cole of Christiansburg, VA, Mendy (Jason) Moseley of Acworth, GA and Malvin Markham of Powder Springs, GA; great grandchildren Kristen Cole, Peyton and Presleigh Moseley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband C.E. Cole; sons Arthur and Roger Cole; brothers Arbon Canterbury, Dick Canterbury, Walt Canterbury, Louie Canterbury and Bob Canterbury; sisters Olive Hemmings and Ruby Albaugh and an infant brother and sister. Funeral Service will be 1 pm Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Pat Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville.
