Juanita Ellen Parsons Skeen

Juanita Ellen Parsons Skeen, 79, of Vienna, WV passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. She was born December 1, 1936 at Kenna, Jackson County, WV a daughter of the late Roscoe L. and Ethel Vannoy Parsons. She worked for BB&T until she retired in 2002. She graduated from Ripley High School with the Class of 1955. She was crowned Miss Viking of 1954 and LKC Bowl Queen in 1955. She was a treasurer for the Parkersburg CEO's, a lifelong member of the Vienna Women's Club, a member of the Red Hatters, and member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Vienna. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed sewing, her Monday Card Group, and loved going to the beach with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her son Joey E. Skeen (Jody-Kay) of Huntersville, NC; daughter Cheryl L. Unger (Lynn) of Arthurdale, WV; sisters Monnie Landis of Ripley and Mildred Hunt (Carroll) of Columbus, OH; grandchildren Lauren Peaslee (Mike), Kendra Wheeler (Ryan), Lucas Skeen (Emily), and Carrie Smith (Shiloh); great-grandchildren Brier Peaslee, Landon and Lyncoln Wheeler, Bailey Jo Skeen, Kinson Smith, Ashlyn and Kordell Peaslee. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, James Franklin Skeen; Brother Dale Parsons; Sisters Mamie B. Skeen and Gladys L. Jordan; and a niece Angela R. Jordan. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. David Spence officiating. Friends may call on the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.
