Judith Elaine Miller

Judith Elaine Parsons Miller, 76 of Ripley, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Ravenswood Care Center following a long illness. Judy was born May 29, 1940 in Charleston, WV. Daughter of the late Edison and Avelena Jividen Parsons. She was a member of the graduating class of 1958 of Ripley High School where she was the head majorette of the Viking Band. She was an employee of Kaiser Aluminum for 12 years and later worked in her family business, Parsons Funeral Home. Judy was all about helping others and promoting her community. She had leadership roles in many organizations including the Past President of the Board of Directors of the Jackson County Health Department, GFWC Woman's Club of Ripley where she was a 50 year member and she was a charter member of the Jackson County Pilot Club, where she served as the clubs first president. She was a 50 year member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church now the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley. Judy received many certificates of recognition for her work as a volunteer and was awarded the West Virginia Volunteer of the Year. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Raymond L. Miller; daughter Connie M. Waybright and her husband Ron of Ripley; her granddaughter, Kelsey Waybright McMillan and her husband John Martin of Huntington and her grandson Kasey L. Waybright of Ripley; brother Eddy Parsons of Ripley; aunts Betty Darby of Scott Depot and Alberta Board of Hickory, NC along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of Judy's life will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in memory of Judy to Kanawha Hospice, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W, Charleston, WV 25387 or to the Calvary United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 205 Court St N, Ripley, WV 25271. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Snyder for his friendship and care given to Judy during her illness as well as the wonderful staff of Ravenswood Care Center for not only the special care given to her but also caring for her family. Also, a heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses of Kanawha Hospice for keeping Judy comfortable in her final days.
