Judith Lea Smith Swisher, 71 of Ripley, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 21, 2016. She was born March 9, 1945 in Harrisville, WV, a daughter of the late Herbert Clarence Smith and Edith Virginia Smith. Judy graduated from Grantsville High School in 1963. She worked for Dr. Mendenhall and Hiehle, DDS in Parkersburg, WV for many years before moving to Ripley area and joining her husband, Charlie, in serving the Lord at Parchment Valley Baptist Center. Charlie and Judy were the face of Parchment Valley Baptist Conference Center for 15 years and she was a charter member of Parchment Valley Baptist Church. She served the Lord in various roles including Guild Girls, VBS craft person, and Wednesday night Bible Study for the Youth. She was in charge of the Quarter Ministry for Weirton Children Center, in Weirton, WV and instrumental in starting the shoe box ministry at Parchment Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed working at the Prayer Garden and other landscaping at the church. Judy loved her church and specifically ABW where she was a member for more than 55 years. As a testament to her faith, she also went to the mission field twice, to Alaska and Haiti. Judy served on the Ripley Beautification Committee and was a member of Women's Club of Ripley. She was a member of the Book Club and enjoyed attending activities at the Jackson County Library. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles Ray Swisher; her son Gregory Swisher and his wife Melanie of Ripley; grandchildren, Michael and Jillian Bright of Ripley, WV, Charles Cordell Swisher, US Navy, Jacob Jackson Jude, Huntington, WV and Clayton Gregory Swisher of Ripley, WV; Great Grandchild, Nathaniel Sean Bright of Ripley, WV; her siblings, Herbert Clarence (Chuck) and Barbara Smith, Jr., Allen Dewayne and Debbie Smith of Kenna, Daniel Keith and Loretta Smith, Carol Ann and Tom Lewis, Conway, SC, Nell Jean Smith of Parkersburg, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Clay Smith. Funeral Service will be 12:30 pm Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Herman Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg, WV.
