Karen Lynn Engle

Karen Waybright Engle, 75 of Leroy, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Jackson General Hospital following a sudden illness.

She was born May 8, 1948, in Ripley, daughter of the late Boyd and Doris Hood Waybright. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, playing bingo, sewing and her pets.

She is survived by her children, Lora (Tommie) Burdette, James (Chanda) Engle Jr. Eric (Ashley) Engle and Derrick (Nataly) Engle; grandchildren, Nicole (Ryan) Varchetti, Lucas Burdette, Mariah Engle, Jesse Engle, Eden Engle, Skylar Engle, Mia Engle and Elliott Engle and her great grandchildren, Damien, Aubriana and Audrina Varchetti, Serenity and Bodhi Burdette; sister, Linda Waybright.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bill” Engle; brothers, Michael Waybright and David Waybright.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 1-2 pm at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Following the visitation a procession will leave for the Fairplain Cemetery where a graveside service will be held.
