Kenneth G. Achtziger, 68 of Ripley, WV went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2012 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born January 4, 1944 at West Moreland County, PA a son of Bertha Sullenberger Achtziger of Armbrust, PA and the late Grover Achtziger. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict where he served as a Helicopter Pilot. He worked for many years in the Pipeline Industry having been employed with S and T Pipe, and lastly with Pipeline Energy Group as a safety officer. He formerly worked for Carl E. Smith as a Helicopter Pilot and Parts Manager. He was a member of the Aplin United Methodist Church. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 18 years Kathy Cummings Achtziger, a daughter Rachel Rhodes and her husband Gordon of Statts Mill; a sister Roberta Graham and her husband John of Ligonier, PA; grandchildren Brianna and Brice Rhodes and his mother in law Juanita Cummings. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his father in law Junior Cummings. Funeral Service will be 1pm Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pasto Danny Cummings officiating. Burial with Veteran Rites provided by American Legion Post 107, Ripley will be in the Aplin United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gay, WV. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
