Lakin Todd Southall

November 16, 1965 — August 5, 2022

Lakin Todd Southall, 56, of Sissonville passed away at home under the care of Hospice with his wife Tereasa by his side. Todd was born in Gallipolis, Ohio to the parents of Mr. And Mrs. Lakin Southall. Todd grew up in Jackson County being the typical boy playing football and discovering his love of music thru his Dad. He graduated from Ripley High School in 1984. He attended one year of collage at Marshall University before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Todd served his country from 1985 until being medically discharged in 1992. Todd was a Sargent and spent the majority of his career as Military Police. After the Army, Todd graduated from The University of Charleston with a degree in nursing. Throughout his nursing career Todd was able to explore many different avenues. He worked several years on the Critical Care Truck at the Kanawha County Ambulance Authority and ending his career at CAMC in the Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. Todd's rule of thumb was the patient always comes first and he never passed up a chance to teach. Todd was a complex man but anyone who met him instantly discovered his sense of humor. He loved Nascar, Marvel movies, gaming, putting together puzzles, reading and his Denver Bronco's. Todd's true passions were arguing politics and his Indian motorcycle. During the latter part of Todd's military career he was trained and operated as a sniper. Thru the years he struggled with this spiritually always asking how could God love still love him and forgive him after how many lives he had taken. During Todd's time on Hospice he was introduced to their amazing Chaplain Pete. Thru their multiple visits and conversations Pete was able to answer Todd's questions and eliminate his fears and struggles. In the book of Luke 23, verses 32-35 Todd's big question was answered. Todd left this world knowing God had forgiven and truly loved him and all was well with his salvation. Todd is survived by his wife Tereasa Staats Southall, daughter Mariah Southall (Aaron Hypes) and children Lincoln and Leila, son Lakin Southall (Taylor) and daughter Kira, mother Sqirley Southall, sister Melinda Southall and children Ashton and Evan, mother in law Sharon Pickens Staats, brother and sister in law Terry and Stephanie Easter Staats. In addition a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. Todd was preceded in death by his father Lakin Southall, brother Randy Southall and father in law Jimmie Staats. A special thanks to the entire Hospice Crew and the spectacular care they gave to Todd. To his nurse Candice....you truly are an Angel and words cannot express the gratitude of thanks for all that you did making Todd's final months the best they could have been. You know Todd teaching until he couldn't teach no more being his annamonaly self. After Todd's initial heart diagnosis his world was turned upside down. Every physician taking care of him gave him the "go home and enjoy what little time you have" speech. Being a quitter was never in his vocabulary and Todd proved them all wrong and fought to his very last breath. Rest in peace Todd you deserve it. Per Todd's request he was to be cremated and no service. Arrangements by Waybright Funeral Home.
