Larry Joseph Garnes

Larry Joseph Garnes, 63 of Ripley passed away September 1, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family following a long illness. He was born September 6, 1957 in Evans, a son of the late Leroy and Madeline Lynch Garnes. He worked in Construction and helped his family with grave services in Jackson County. He enjoyed carpentry work and tinkering with anything that had an engine. He was known to argue with anyone just for the fun of it. His greatest love was his grandchildren. Hs is survived by his wife, Penny Clinton; children and their families, Shaun (Carrie) Myers, Shaun II and Makenzie Myers, Michael “Todd” (Anna) Clinton, Kody and Kelsey Clinton, Terry Clinton, Christian and Tessie Clinton; sisters, Nancy Myers of Millers Creek, NC, Anna Mae Myers and Norma Jackson both of Sissonville and Carolyn Martin of Ripley; brother Gary Garnes of Millers Creek, NC; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be 4:00 pm Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
