Larry Rhodes

Larry Leealdon Rhodes (63) of Staats Mill, WV left this world Friday, April 10, 2026, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Larry spent 43 years working on the river for Voyager and WV Paving as a boat pilot, crane operator, foreman, and all-around repairman. When he wasn't working on the river, he spent his time working on the farm or repairing whatever his wife and boys happened to tear up that week. Following retirement at 62, Larry lived life at a slower pace but found slowing down difficult as there was always something to do. His hands and heart have touched countless lives and projects all around the community. His wisdom and guidance will be missed, and his absence will be felt heavily. His life and memory continue through his wife, sons, family and friends.

He was preceded in passing by his father Otis Rhodes and mother Mavis Rhodes, and his brothers Kenneth and Curtis Rhodes. He is survived by his wife Patricia Southall-Rhodes; his children, Derek Rhodes (wife Kayla, son Rowen) and Eric Rhodes (wife Lori, daughters Kate and Ella); his brother, Gary Rhodes (wife Patty); sisters, Sharon Frazier and Kimberly Hart (husband Billie); his sister-in-laws, Judith (Kenneth) Rhodes and Sherry (Curtis) Rhodes; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
