Larry B. Weese, 84 of Cottageville, WV, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
He was born November 2, 1940, in Morris Creek, WV and graduated from Gauley Bridge High School in 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before beginning a long and dedicated career in industry. He worked in Cleveland at J&L Steel, later moved to Cottageville where he was employed at Kaiser Aluminum, and then to Salisbury, North Carolina, where he worked at National Foil. He eventually returned to West Virginia and retired from Century Aluminum in Ravenswood.
Larry was a man of deep faith and many interests. He loved spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping were among his favorite pastimes. He was also a skilled woodworker and avid reader who especially loved studying the Bible. Larry was known for his quiet wisdom, kind heart, and strong moral character.
Above all, Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a kindhearted man, wise beyond his years, and always ready with a listening ear and a gentle word. His legacy of love, strength, and quiet wisdom will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Earl Weese Sr. and Bertha Oakland (Jackson) Weese of Gauley Bridge, WV. Larry was the youngest of six children, all of whom preceded him in death: Paul Edward Weese, Norman Earl ”Junior” Weese, Dalma Jean (McMillion) Weese, John Robert Weese and Norris Keith Weese.
Larry married the love of his life, Brenda Jane (Martin) Weese. High School sweethearts and best friends, they shared 62 wonderful years together until Brenda’s passing. From this union, they raised five children. In recent years, Larry found companionship and joy with Verona Sampson of Ripley, his partner and devoted companion of the past five years.
He was a loving and proud father to: sons, Larry Weese Jr. and wife Michaelle, Craig Weese and wife Megan, and Brent Weese and wife Laurie; daughters Debbie Kestner and husband Dale, Stephney Pettry and husband Scott.
He was also a cherished grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Tamela Martin, Mara Bailey, Dale Kestner, Larry Weese III, Richard Kestner, Tara Winfrey, Nicole Weese, Christopher Weese, Andrea Weese, Kody Weese, Alyssa Pettry and Andrew Pettry.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love through his seventeen great grandchildren, Gabrielle Weese, Rylie Martin, McKenzie Bailey, Colton Winfrey, Braylee Weese, Khloe Kestner, William Bailey, Dale Kestner Jr., Abby Kestner, Delanie Martin, Aiden Weese, Arabella Kestner, Ryker Weese, Gabrielle Kestner, Mateo Weese, Olivia Cook and Joyce Kestner.
He is also survived by his adopted family, Norma Carney, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Larry’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His kindness, strength, and enduring faith will not be forgotten.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Matt Ash and Rev. Herman Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, WV. Friends may call on the family from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
