Leonard Floyd Kessell

Leonard Floyd Kessell, 79, won his battle on January 24, 2026, and received his place beside his Heavenly Father. He was born on August 30, 1946, in Given, a son of the late Dallas and Euneva Kessell.

He is survived by his sons Larry (Melissa) Kessell of Ripley and John Kessell of Ripley; amazing grandsons Trevor Jacob Kessell and Noah Robert Kessell; brother, Charlie Kessell of Panacea, Fl; sister, Angie Haile of Ripley; sister-in-law, Lois (Keith) Jividen of Hometown, WV; 5 nephews, and several cousins are left to cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Dorothy Ann Kessell; and brother, Dale Kessell.

Leonard served in the U.S. Army, Army Reserves and was in the 812th Ordinance Company USAR in Ripley, WV. He later did trade work in construction and served as a pastor for various churches in the community and surrounded areas. He is a beloved family man who will be remembered especially for his hard work and faith. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to his many care givers over the years that provided comfort in his time of need.

A time of visitation only will be held from 11-1p.m. on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, at Waybright Funeral Home, with pastor Tim Birthisle performing the committal at the funeral home. The Honor Guard will also be performing military rites, and a burial will take place in Emma Chapel Cemetery.
