Leota B. Faber

Leota Boggess Faber of Kenna slipped these surly bonds on July 17, 2026. Born in Sissonville, Kanawha County on April 1, 1941, she was the daughter of Shirley Boggess and Zelma (Higginbotham) Boggess.

In June 1958, Leota married the love of her life, Frank Faber of Kenna, in a private ceremony at the home of Reverend Warren Anderson of Charleston. Frank fondly recalls that when he asked Zelma for her daughter’s hand in marriage she replied, “Yes, but if you don’t like her, bring her back.” After sixty-eight beautiful years together, it is safe to say that he loved her deeply.

Leota is survived by her devoted husband, Frank and their four children: Herb (Cheryl) of Kenna, David (Kellie) of Given, Sam (Denise) of Kenna and Stephanie (Mark) of Kenna. She was the grandmother of Constance Keeney of Colorado, Hannah Faber, Riley Faber and Samantha Reynolds all of West Virginia.

Leota dedicated her life to serving the Lord and her family. After raising her children to adulthood, she embarked on a path of service to humanity in the field of nursing. At 49 years young, she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Arch A. Moore, Jr. Vocational Technical Center and began working at Charleston Area Medical Center. She then attended the University of Charleston, where she earned her Associate of Arts degree, and continued her calling as a Registered Nurse at CAMC, working in the post-cardiac catheterization lab until her retirement in 2002. Leota returned to nursing in 2007 at Saint Francis Hospital, where she served until 2013.

Leota was the consummate wife and mother- a devoted partner to Frank who ensured her children never went hungry. Her home was always welcoming and tidy, grounded in the Christian principles of faith, hope and charity. She was a gifted baker, quilter, seamstress and farmer.

Leota was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Corbett Carnell, Jack Harrison, Billy, Harrison, Annie Ronk, Reba Garnes, Janice Barnhart, Manfred Boggess, Ray Boggess and Fay Williams. She is survived by her sister, Rachel Snodgrass of Charleston, as well as many loving nephews and nieces.

The is a lesson, good or bad, to be learned from every life that is lived. Perhaps the greatest lesson we can gather from Leota’s life is found in Paul’s letter to the Philippians, Chapter 4, Verse 13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Leota was a living example of faith in action to her family and all those around her. She will be deeply missed until we see her again on that heavenly shore.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donation be made in Leota’s memory to your local animal shelter to honor Leota’s love for animals.

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 22nd at Warren Chapel Church, 378 Emma Rd., Kenna, WV 25248. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
