Linda Harpold

February 17, 1949 — November 5, 2023

Linda Carney Harpold was born on Feburary 17, 1949 in Parkersburg and passed away November 5, 2023 at the Mountain View Care Center, Ripley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Beulah Watkins Carney and her son, Ryan.

She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Philip Harpold and brother, Larry Lee (Ellen) Watkins of Lakeland, FL.

Linda was a 1967 graduate of Ripley High School. She attended Brevard Junior College in Florida. She was a member of the Ripley Lions Club, Ripley Pilot Club and lifelong member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.

For the bulk of her adult life, she served as an Army Wife. Traveling and setting up new homes wherever they were sent. She enjoyed the Germany assignments the most. All together she spent six years in Germany, living in Babenhausen, Geilenkirchen and Heidelberg. Linda loved Paris and would visit the city numerous times. She visited Korea in 1976 while Philip was stationed with the Second Infantry Division. When not overseas she established homes in eight sperate states and moved twelve times in 20 years.

Linda enjoyed the final move back to Ripley where she could spend time with family and friends.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, November 9th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Harpold Cemetery, Gay. Following the interment there will be a time of fellowship at the Parsons-Vail Family Center located at the funeral home.
