Lloyd Steven Atkinson

April 12, 1945 — January 16, 2025

Lloyd Steven Atkinson, 79, of Ripley went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 16, 2025, following a sudden illness.

He was born April 12, 1945, in Jenkinjones, WV, son of the late Harry and Hazel Weber Atkinson. Steve was a Pastor, welder by trade, and a warrior for Christ. He was a multi-talented man who could do almost anything including drawing, painting, playing guitar, carpentry, and metal art. He loved reading, especially the Bible, and wrote poetry. One of his favorite past times was playing golf. Steve had a passion for learning and would often study the artist and history of songs, especially hymns. His witness for Christ took him to many places including mission fields in Mexico, where he preached, helped build a church, and loved spreading the Gospel.


He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Oleta Miller Atkinson; children, Kelly Manley Fifelski (Eric) of Sunrise, Florida, Michael Steve Atkinson of Princeton, Scott Atkinson of Princeton, and Jason Atkinson of Princeton; daughter-in-law, Sally Anthony Manley of Ripley; brothers, Curtis Atkinson (Kathryn) of Ravenswood and Michael Atkinson (Billie Jean) of Roanoke, VA; sister-in-law, Reatha Atkinson of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Alexis Fifelski Watson (Ryan) of Florida, Nicholas Fifelski (Elizabeth) of Maryland, Natasha Fifelski Fisch (Max) of Florida, Alexander Fifelski (Erin) of Florida, Zackary Fifelski of Florida, Michael Manley (Nikole), Christopher Manley (Anya Manry), Ryan Manley (Krissa), Josh Atkinson, Zack Atkinson, Amber Atkinson, Katie Atkinson, and Dillion Atkinson; also survived by 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Manley, brothers, Ronnie Atkinson and Kenneth Atkinson, and granddaughter, Erika Fifelski Dawson (Robbie).


Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 21, at Waybright Funeral Home.


Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, WV with Pastor Mike Elder officiating.

Burial will be take place immediately following the service at Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, WV.
