Lois Marie Karr Nuckles

Lois Marie Karr Nuckles, 83, of Ripley, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2016. She was born June 13, 1932 in Ripley, a daughter of the late John Jacob and Madoline Mcintyre Karr. Lois was the first female deputy for the Jackson County Sherrif's Department and worked there for over 17 years. After retirement, she and Ralph became very active in the WBCCI Airstream Club and were past 2nd Vice President for Region IV which included West Virginia, Ohio, and Michigan. Lois was a very active volunteer for both the American Red Cross and Jackson General Hospital. She volunteered over 10,000 hours for Jackson General Hospital Auxiliary, aka the "Pink Ladies." When she wasn't busy volunteering at the hospital, she was happily being the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. Lois is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ralph Nuckles and their children: daughter Patti Sue Nuckles Snyder(Bob) of Evans, sons, Ronald Nuckles(Lisa) of Fountaintown, IN and Robert Nuckles(Kristi) of Charleston; sister Ada Grace Dodd(Ed) of Ripley; grandchildren Marcus Nuckles(Michelle) of Charlotte, NC; Melissa Snyder Kessell(Larry) of Ripley; Kim Nuckles Peck(Steve) of Monrovia, IN; Melinda Snyder Raynes Friend(Mark) of Ravneswood; and Devon Nuckles of Huntington; and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Teresa Deane officiating. Friends may call on the family Wednesday, February 24 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In honor with Lois's wishes she will be cremated following the service with inurnment following at a later date.
