Lonnie "Bill" Walker 68 of Kenna went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 12, 2013 after a short battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends. He was born August 8, 1944 a son of the late Delbert and Reba Layne Walker- Robinson. Bill was a decorated Vietnam Veteran wounded during combat and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, National Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon along with the Combat Infantry Badge. Bill was a proud member of the VFW Post 3488 and a Lifetime member of the D.A.V. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Kay Walker; two sons Jimmy Walker and his wife Robin of Poca and Shawn Walker and his wife Becky of Kenna; brothers Gary Walker of Merritt Island, FL, Tom (Shirley) Walker of Sissonville and Lovell (Rose) Walker of Hurricane; sisters Wanda (Orville) McGraw of Sissonville, Faye Southall of Sissonville and Anne Shaffer of Kenna; grandchildren Cody, Cassie and Jake Walker; step grandchildren Justeen Brubaker and Braddock Bowling; step great grandchild Joslyn Brubaker and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step father Paris Robinson; two Brothers Dana and David Walker and sister-in-law Jeannie Walker. A graveside service will be held at 3:45 pm Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Emma Chapel Cemetery, Liberty with Pastor Billy Casto officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the West Virginia Honor Guard and Jackson County Veterans Groups. Friends may call on the Family from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Monday at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley and the funeral procession will leave shortly after 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that Memorial Donations in memory of Bill be sent to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. West, Charleston, WV 25387. The family would also like to thank the staff at Hospice Care of Charleston as they stood by the family until the end.
