Loretta Jean Woofter

Loretta Jean Woofter, 90, of Ripley, WV, a passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023while being well-cared for at the Ravenswood Village Nursing Home.

She was born September 19, 1932, daughter of the late Cecil B. and Roxie Merrill Rutherford. Loretta was a very active member at the West Ripley Baptist Church and in the South Hills Homemakers Club. She enjoyed being a member of the Carpe Diem Roses Chapter of the Red Hats Society and was a community volunteer her entire life. Loretta worked for many years as a beautician in Ripley.

She is survived by her daughter Cathy Woofter, and sons William H. "Bill" (Belinda) Woofter, and Brian K. (Janette) Woofter; grandchildren Scott Humphreys (Tami), Channon Humphrey (Matt Friend), Lori Woofter Zasloff (Zach), Jared Woofter (Jessica) and Josh Woofter (Stephanie) and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Jean (Woofter) Kilmer.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. (Bill) Woofter and her two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral Service will be 2 pm Friday, February 10th at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Franklin Howerton officiating. Burial will be in the Fairplain Cemetery, Ripley, WV. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ravenswood Village for the love and care given to Loretta during her stay there as well as Aletha and Kenneth Hall for their loving care and support.
