Louise Milan

February 18, 1929 — April 27, 2020

Amie Louise Milan, 91 of Ripley, went to her Heavenly Home and is now sitting with Jesus on April 27, 2020 at her home following a long illness. To her family she was “Wife, Mother, Mom, Aunt, Grandma, MaMa, Weesie. She was their Heart and Rock, the Heart and Spiritual Guide!” She was born February 18, 1929 in Roane County, a daughter of the late Arlie Howard and Elizabeth Nichols Lowers. She was a homemaker, worked in Nursing and Home Health Care. Louise was more than a homemaker, she was always tending to her family’s needs by canning what came from the family gardens and cooking. She loved it when often times friends and neighbors would join them around the table for meals. She always loved to serve her famous dinners and would eat last when she was sure that all were taken care of. Louise never knew a stranger and was an avid reader and read almost every book in the Jackson County Libraries. Her positive influence on everyone she touched was admired by all who knew her. If times were tough, she could always find a good and bright side to give hope and security to whoever needed help. She and her husband Ed were married for 71 years. Asked, ”How do you stay married for all those years?” They would answer, “We made a pact that if one of us left, they had to take all nine children with them!” She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ed Milan; her children Oren Edward Milan (Susan), Wanda Joanne Blinn, Linda Sue Berry, Miles Blaine Milan (Donna), Debra Kay Dougherty, Sherman Keith Milan (Belinda), Norma Jean Carney (Greg), Samuel Wesley Milan (Dinah) and Hayden Jay Milan. She was also blessed with over 50 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her sons and daughters-in law consider her their mother and she was like a second mother to her children’s friends. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Preston Milan officiating.
