Lucy Marie Ramsey

Lucy Marie Harrison Ramsey 95, of Ripley, WV passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 in Jackson OH. She was born June 4, 1920 near Goldtown, WV, daughter of the late Thomas B. Harrison and Martha Pringle Harrison. She worked at the Big R Supermarket (meat dept.) for 27 years. After retirement, she spent 20 years volunteering at the Jackson General Hospital Auxiliary. She also spent many Sunday afternoons visiting residents at the Eldercare Nursing Home and attending evening church services there. She was a long-time member of Rising Sun Church, where her mother was one of the founding members. She is survived by one sister, Flossie Powers, Leroy, WV; daughters Judy Strickland (Tony-deceased), Manassas, VA, Carolyn Coon (Ernie), Jackson OH; son Richard Ramsey (Wanda-deceased), Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Jeff and Brad Strickland, Kenneth, Charles, and Jason Coon, Carrie Burger and Brian Ramsey. Several great and great-great grandchildren also survive her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant sons; sisters, Lizzie Freeman, Ripley WV, Myrtle Helmick, Akron OH; brothers Walter French Harrison, Ashtabula OH, Franklin Bonaparte (Boney) Harrison, Ravenna OH; and former husband, Lewis Ramsey, Ripley WV. Lucy loved life and always had a way of finding the best in people and situations. Her songs and stories will be sadly missed. Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with John Gunther officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley.
