Marble Smith, 83, of Kenna passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 at her home.
She was born October 30, 1940 at Sissonville a daughter of the late Aubrey and Ada (Kersey) Johnson.
Marble was a school teacher who taught at Sissonville High School and WV Career College. She enjoyed spending time in her garden as well as birdwatching, with her favorite being hummingbirds. Marble was a member of the Old Paths Community Church and attended Heizer Creek Community Church.
Marble is survived by her children Lynn Dunbar (Roger), Lee Smith (Carla), Hobert “Ray” Smith (Barbara) and Gina Vance (Timothy); grandchildren Evan Dunbar (Colleen), Kristy Smith (Will), Cheyenne Smith (Laura) Chasity Dye (Garrett) Eric Vance (Heather); great-grandchildren Charlotte Dunbar, Mattie Smith, Noah Smith, Logan Vance, Gideon Vance, Londyn Dye, Garrison Dye, Penelope and Sawyer Smith; siblings Betty Ray, June Albright, Sue Smith, Patty Taylor and Hobert Johnson; stepchildren Danny Harper (Lynn) and stepgranchildren Amanda Galwey (Rickie) and Teddy R. Harper; step great-grandchildren Lillyan and Zoey Galwey
In addition to her parents, Marble was preceded in death by her first husband Melvin Linneaus Smith; second husband Teddy Allen Harper; siblings Frankie Shamblin and Larry Johnson and a grandson, Matthew Smith.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Roane General Hospital, Miletree Center and Kanawha Hospice for their care and compassion showed to Marble and her family.
A memorial service to celebrate Marble’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
