Marie Hunt

Maude Marie Hunt, 80 of Leroy, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 in Mountain View Care Center, Ripley, following an extended illness.

Marie was born June 25, 1944 in Walton, WV, daughter of the late Ira and Violet Ruth Jones Schoolcraft. She would wish to be remembered for her passion and dedication to her church, The Mill Creek Baptist Church, and her local Frozen Camp Supremes 4-H group where she was a leader for 25 years. She took pride in making and selling Easter Eggs to help send 4-H members to camp every year. She truly believed in the importance of these programs and also helping those in need. She also spent time as the secretary for the Modern Woodman of America. She enjoyed farming and raising cattle with her husband and children. She loved to travel with her husband and take long drives together truly enjoying each others company for so many years.

Marie is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ronald Hunt of Leroy; sister, Norma Gay Miller of Spencer; her wonderful children, Kimberly Hunt and Jesse Hunt both of Leroy; her cherished grandchildren, Travis Thompson and Alysia (Mike) Bryant and great grandchildren, Alyana Thompson, Carter, Gianna, Mila and Huxton Bryant; her niece, Patricia (Steve) Starcher of Spencer and her children, Erika (Brian) Lee, Trenton Lanier and Mason Lee.

She had two very special friends, Alice Grady and Sue Harris of whom meant so much to her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter-in-law, Tessa Thompson.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Herman Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. A time of visitation with the family will be from 11:00 am until the time of service on Thursady at the funeral home.
