Marie Waybright

Millie Marie Waybright, 97, of Gay passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.

Marie was born April 30, 1926 at Gay, WV a daughter of the late William Henry and Millie Margaret (Stanley) Waybright.

Marie was a 1944 graduate of Ripley High School. After raising her family, Marie was employed as a case worker for the Jackson County Health Department. Marie was also involved in 4-H and Community Educational Outreach Services. She was world traveler having made it to many destinations around the globe including: Fiji, New Zeland, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Mexico. She also embarked on a cruise to the Bahamas, Aruba, and Curaçao and traveled the Panama Canal. Marie was also a woman of many talents and had the gift of hospitality. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, farming and cooking. She also attended Victory Church.

Marie was the mother of 6 daughters, Diane Waybright, Dawn Littleton, Denese Carney (Kenneth), Millie Dee Nichols, April  Hottle (Scott) and Faye Rogers. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elda Waybright; daughter Diane Waybright; grandsons Bryan Rogers II and Wyatt Hayes; brothers Wayne, Jim and Thomas and sisters Eula, Elva, Esther, Edra and Ruth.

Funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Waybright Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Beane officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Mount Olive Cemetery, Gay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a cause very dear to Marie, the Blessed Hope Foundation, which helps orphans in Uganda.
