Marilynn Roome Brannon 94 of Kenna passed away March 19, 2014 at Eldercare of Ripley following a long illness. She was born March26, 1919 in Wetzel County, WV to Harry Hager Roome and Wilhelmina Balwanz Roome. She was member of First United Methodist Church in Huntington, WV and had a strong love for her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by an infant son, brother, Harry Roome, sister, Carol Lee Allen and special nephew, Jay Lee Wilsey. She is survived by her husband of more than 72 years Kermit Eugene Brannon; Son, Timothy O'Kipton Brannon and daughter-in-law, Terry Brown Brannon of New Market, VA; Daughter, Kerynn Diane Sovic and son-in-law, Randy Sovic of Kenna, WV; Grandchildren, Allison Brannon Kerrigan and husband, Jamie, Jennifer Brannon, Michael Sovic and wife Erin and David Sovic and wife Megan; two great grandchildren Jack and Grant Kerrigan and a new great grandchild due next fall; Special brother-and-sister-in-law, Jim and Drema Brannon; Special nieces, Gisele Corder and Trina Smith and husband George; Two special great nieces, Claire and Elle Smith Her greatest loves and achievements were her long, successful marriage, her family, her pets, her time spent as a teacher aide, and country life. She worked as a teacher aide at Kenna Elementary for 10 years and held all of the students and teachers she worked with in highest regard. She particularly loved the time she spent working in the special education program. Funeral Service will be 11 am Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Emma Chapel United Methodist Church, Liberty with Rev. Charles Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at the Emma Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Waybright Home, Ripley is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to a favorite charity or project in her memory are requested. Three of her favorites are St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research, Friends of Kenna Elementary playground development project, Jackson County Animal Shelter. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to all the staff at Eldercare and Hospice. She was treated with the highest regard and respect by all the staff throughout her stay and they all became like family for her.
