Marjory Cleo Tanner

Marjory Cleo (Wilson) Tanner, 73 of Ravenswood, passed away January 31, 2024 at Charleston Memorial Hospital.

Marjory, known by many as Marge or Margie gained her angel wings after a short term illness. Marge was originally from Roane County, WV, where she owned and operated her own family restaurant known as Ma-Mar Restaurant.

Margie moved to Jackson County back in the mid 1980’s where she worked at McCoy’s Best Western until going to work for Bob Evans. For the past 18 years Margie met so many people, many of who became “Regular Customers” who than became friends who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vermon and Evelyn Wagoner Wilson of Looneyville, WV, three brothers, Richard Clyde Wilson, Ray Wilson and Steven Wilson all who lived in Looneyville; one half brother, Perry Jr. and two half sisters, Vonnie Mae Potter and Barbara Ann Browles.

She is survived by three children, John and April Tanner Jr. of Ripley, Greg and Linda Tanner of Evans and Angie and Eric Dixon of Ravenswood; one very loved granddaughter, Kelsey Tanner and Ryan Meadows of Ravenswood whom she loved beyond measure; one great grandson, James Landon Meadows who was “Na Na’s World.” She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was known by so many as “Na Na.”

A time of visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 7 pm Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Following the visitation her wishes to be cremated will be honored.
