Mary Katheryn Anderson

Mary Katheryn (Gorrell) Anderson, 90 of Vienna, formerly of Ripley passed away May 19, 2024 at her home with her family by her side following a long illness.

She was born February 27, 1934 in Sandyville, WV, daughter of the late Albert and Laura Archer Gorrell. She was a former bookkeeper with Jackson County Bank and Broughton’s Dairy, then became a stay at home mom and caregiver to a number of her older family members. In her spare time she was an accomplished needleworker, quilter and artist. She was a talented cook and always enjoyed preparing holiday, church and family meals. She was a Methodist by faith and a long time attendee and member of the Independence Methodist Church in Sandyville. She is now celebrating in Heaven with her husband, Laco, and family. She will be sorely missed by her son, family and friends.

She is survived by her son Gary Anderson of Vienna; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Laco Anderson; brothers Rex Gorrell and his wife Betty, Kenneth Gorrell and his wife Ann, Charles Gorrell and his wife Betty and Lawrence Gorrell and his wife Willadene; sisters Maxine Gates and her husband Jim and Pauline Boggess and her husband Clay; and niece, Kathy Offutt.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Debra Boggess Anderson, Larry and Frances Anderson, Linda Fetty and Debbie and David Anderson for support and compassion. Also special thanks to Amedisys Hospice of Vienna and the staff of TLC.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Herman Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call on the family from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the funeral home.
