Mary Lou was born March 13, 1934 in Boomer, WV, a daughter of Wert and Aletheal Olive Evans. She faced her illness as she did any obstacle, with strong faith and trust in God’s plan for her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Wert Evans, and Mother, Aletheal Olive Evans; Sisters Luna Marie Kirk, Nita Hedrick, and Esther Miller; Brothers Corbett Madison “Sonny” Miller and Troy “Dickie” Miller. Mary Lou was a kind, thoughtful and loving person whose warm personality drew others to her and she was loved by everyone she met. She spent many years providing loving care to ailing family members. From humble beginnings she worked to build a good life with her beloved husband, Joseph R. Brewer, with whom she shared two daughters. Their life together began on July 13, 1953 just a short time before Joe entered the Army. Upon his return they started their life together in Poca, WV. Their marriage was based on love, romance, a love of family, and raising their 2 daughters. Joe passed in 2004 after 53 wonderful years of marriage. In 2008 she was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Ron Arthur, Sr. and was blessed to find love again. Their years together were filled with a loving, blended family, wonderful trips to far away places and happy times with their dear friends who shared their love of music. She is survived by her husband, Ron V. Arthur, Sr.; Daughtes Teresa Brewer Shockley and husband Everett Shockley and Jodie Brewer Ferrell and husband David Ferrell; Step-children Ronald “Rue” Arthur and wife Tammie and Cheryl Arthur Miller and husband Nick; Granddaughters Amber Wines Whitman and Cristin Wines Watson; Grandson Jordan A. Shockley; 2 great-grandchildren. Her blended family included step-grandchildren Stacy Arthur Turner, R.V. Arthur, III, Christopher and Nicholas Miller, Daniel and Kayla Ferrell and 3 great step-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 15th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Ronald “Rue” Arthur and Pastor Jason Sparks officiating. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes, WV.
