Mary “Mim” Frances Johnson, 83, of Liberty passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 at her home.
She was born December 24, 1940 in Kanawha County, a daughter of the late James Earl and Violet (Hill) Mooney.
In previous years Mim enjoyed talking on CB radios and had the CB name of Sunshine. She loved to cook big dinners for everyone and loved the time she got to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of the Community Tabernacle Church.
Left to cherish her memory are sons Jennings Johnson and Phillip Johnson (Terri); stepdaughter Tammy Owen (Ky); brothers Tom Mooney (Alice), Lawrence “Bo” Mooney and Tommy Mooney; sisters Kitty Fizer and Sara Petry; brother and sister-in-laws Ron Johnson (Lela), Jimmy Johnson (Dreama), Lou Ann Summers (Roy) and Linda Scarbough (Joe). Mim is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald L. Johnson on July 7, 2023; mother and father-in-law Fred and Dixie Johnson; brother-in-law Donnie Fizer and sister-in-law Sharon Ashby (Daryl).
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 26th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Steve Burkhouse officiating. Burial will follow in the Emma Chapel Cemetery, Liberty.
