Mary Pursley

Mary F. Pursley Mary Pursley, 73, of Leroy, passed away Wednesday morning, January 8, 2014, at Roane General Hospital following an extended illness. She was born December 29, 1940 at Gay, WV, daughter of the late Marion and Doris Everson Harpold. She was a 1957 graduate of Ripley High School and formerly employed by GS of West Virginia at Silverton. Mary main career was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving: Her husband of 54 years, Maywood "Clair" Pursley; Son, Maywood "Butch" Pursley Jr., of Leroy; Daughter, Marian Schreckengost (Greg) of Leroy; Grandchildren, Stephanie Martin (Louis "Bo" Martin III) of Elizabeth and Andrew Schreckengost (Christina), serving with the U.S. Marines in San Diego, California; Great-grandchildren, Louis Martin IV, Leia Martin and Shoshanna Martin; Brother, Robert Harpold of Gay. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Harpold and a sister, Edith Ann Harpold. A celebration of the life of Mary Pursley is set for Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Enoch Pursley officiating.
