Mary Jane Staats

Mary Jane Staats, 82 of Cheraw, SC passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington following a short illness. She was born September 11, 1934 at Pt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Earnest and Ruth Wells. She was a graduate of Pt. Pleasant High School and worked in optometrists with Dr. Bradshaw in Pomeroy. She was a member of the Word of Life Fellowship Church in Cheraw, SC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Marvin Scaggs; brothers William and Donald Wells and a sister Katheryn Metzger. She is survived by her husband, Enoch J. Staats of Cheraw, SC; children Becky (Aaron) Smith of Reynoldsburg, OH, Terry (Donna) Scaggs of New Haven, WV, Melody Redmond of South Carolina, Lisa (significant other Richard) Ridgeway of Columbus, OH, Allan (Kim) Staats of Ripley, WV, Donald (Beth) Staats of Cottageville, WV, Mary Alice (Mark) Hume of Manassas, VA and Leigh (Shayne) Burr of South Charleston, WV. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In honoring her wishes she will be cremated. A Celebration of her Life Service will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Faith Baptist Church in Mason, WV with Terry Scaggs officiating.
