Mary Margaret Stickler Scites

Mary Margaret Stickler Scites, 67, of the Grasslick Road community, Fairplain, passed away Tuesday, August 13,2013 at Cabell Huntington Hospital following an extended illness. She was born November 14, 1945 in Lincoln County West Virginia, daughter of the late Buck and Dorothy Harris Stickler. Mary attended Hurricane High School, had a passion for collecting angel figurines and, in 1966, married John Allen Scites, a union that lasted 35 years until his death in 2001. She was a lifelong homemaker and formerly worked as a caregiver for the Jackson County Commission on Aging. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marie, brothers, Jimmie and Jackie Stickler and one sister, Helen Lewis. Surviving: Sons, Verlin "Bucky" Scites of Ripley and Kyle Allen Scites of Liberty; Grandchildren, John Andrew "Andy" Scites of Ripley and Brittany Scites of Ripley; Brothers, Roger Stickler of Hamlin, Robert Stickler of Hurricane and Russell Stickler of Nitro; Sisters, Alice Cooper of Elkins, Trish Hauldren, Karen Jeffers and Ruth Huffman of Nitro. A celebration of Mary's life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Buck Adkins officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Scites family cemetery at Branchland, Lincoln County. Friends may call Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
