Maxine Landfried Ramsey

Maxine Nelson Landfried Ramsey, 88, died Monday, September 7, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House after an extended illness. Her family is blessed to know that she is absent from the body, present with the Lord. Maxine is survived by her loving children Jim (Dianne) Landfried, Sue McLane, Linda (Jeff) Posten all of Jackson County and Brenda (Jack) Marcum of Horner, WV. She also leaves grandchildren Eric, Shannon, Rachel, Josh, Terra, Julie, Hannah and Jonah. Maxine also has six great grandchildren. Maxine was born to Robert and Jessie Nelson on October 20, 1926. She graduated from DuPont High School with the class of 1944. Maxine worked from a young age to support her mother and brother after her father's passing. She was a clerk at Seacrest's in Belle for many years prior to moving to Jackson County and employment at the Big R. Maxine's true vocation was motherhood. Her four children became her sole responsibility when her first husband, Clyde (Red) Landfried, died. With great determination Maxine raised her children to be servants of God, family connected, hard workers who cared for those around them and helped whenever possible. Her children always felt safe, secure in the knowledge that "Mom" had everything under control. She taught by the example of her own life, loving unconditionally and spreading sunshine with her smile as she moved through the world. Maxine was married to Fred Ramsey for 28 years. Fred passed away in 2011. She has six step children, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren from her marriage to Fred. Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastors Jason Sparks and David Sanderson officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be Friday, September 11, 2015 in the Grasslick Baptist Church Cemetery, Kenna.
