Michael Allen Gandee, 74, of Frozen Camp passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Camden Clark Medical Center Amedysis Hospice following an extended illness.
He was born December 29, 1948 in Logan, WV a son of the late Charles Robert and Mable Lora Vannatter Gandee. Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed farming and reading, especially Reader’s Digest and Louie L’Amour books. He was U.S. Army Veteran and member of American Legion Post 115 in Parkersburg. Following his service in the Army, Michael worked at several jobs including Corning Glass, Kaiser Aluminum, Dravo and Hartley Manufacturing.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara (Gorrell) Gandee; children Heather Humprheys (Eric), Michelle Wilmoth (Timothy) and Kyle Gandee (Stacia); brothers Bob Gandee (Sharon), Patricia Chambers, Priscilla Anderson, Laurie Hersman (John) and Timmy Gandee. grandchildren Ryan Wilmoth, his only granddaughter, Paige Wilmoth (Joshua Fields), Ethan Humprheys (Teri), Carsen Gandee and Braxten Gandee and great-grandchildren Lilly Humphreys and Laelah Fields.
In addition to his parents Michael was preceded in death by a grandson, Cameron Humphreys and brother-in-laws Larry Chambers and Rondus Anderson.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Herman Robinson and Bob Gandee officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Gandee Cemetery on Stonelick Road in Kenna. Following the committal service there will be a meal at the Parsons-Vail Family Center located at the funeral home.
