Michael E. Simons

Michael Edward Simons, 62 of Ripley, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday March 26, 2020. Mike loved hunting, fishing, holidays and family gatherings. He loved his family and spending time with them. He will be missed by all family and friends. Mike was born on June 3, 1957 in Ripley, son of Charles E. Simons and the late Clara Ann Smith Simons. He worked as a HVAC Tech for over 30 years. He was a member of the Steamfitters Local 602 and attended the Freewill Baptist Church. Mike is survived by his ex-wife and companion of 15 years, Tina Simons of Ripley; daughters Jessica L. Simons of Westerville, OH and Amnesty D. Garrett of Ripley; three step-sons, Dustin Blackshire, Colton Nichols both of Ripley and Avery B. Creel of Ravenswood; step-daughter, Megan N. LeMaster of Ripley; four grandchildren,Quentin and Sophia Amstutz of Westerville, OH Lakoda and Lane LeMaster of Ripley; his father Charles E. (Debbie) Simons of Orange, VA; sisters Robin (Duck) Sturgill and Beverly (Courtney) Jeans. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Sue Jenkins. The memorial service was private and the family will have a Celebration of Life Service, with the time and place announced at a later date. Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley is serving the family. The family would like to than the Jackson County Sheriff Department, Jackson County EMT’s and the doctors and nurses at Jackson General Hospital for the care given to Mike and the rest of the family during this difficult time.
