Mildred E. Collins, 97 of Ripley, passed away March 26, 2017 at Ravenswood Care Center following a long illness. She was born December 24, 1919 at Charleston, a daughter of the late Orville and Alice Verl Southall Rhodes. She was a homemaker and will be remembered as a lady who could do anything. She loved the outdoors, gardening, mowing grass and taking care of her animals and was an exceptional seamstress. She enjoyed creating ceramic pieces from start to finish. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Collins; brothers Bill Rhodes and Denzil “Dusty” Rhodes and sister Nona Lane. She is survived by her son, Jack Collins of Ripley; daughters Katherine L. Ashby of Parkersburg, Carolyn Sue Casto of Kenna, Dorma J. Fox of Georgia, Sharon K. Shipley of Maryland, Joan C. Newland of Virginia and Pamela J. Williams of Alabama; sister Ruth Glassner of Ripley; she is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Lyman Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Ephesus Cemetery, Grasslick Rd., Ripley.
