Nancy Lou Mellen

Nancy Lou Mellen 75 of Leroy, Jackson County went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2014 following a short illness. She was born October 25, 1938 at Beloit, WI a daughter of the late Louis and Hazel Hansen Thorson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Central Christian Church in Beloit, WI and attended the Abundant Life Church in Ripley, WV. Nancy was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Sister and enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and yard sales. She will be sadly missed by her family. She is survived by her son Robert Mellen and his wife Kelly of Leroy; grandchildren Sarah (Mellen) Knutson (Karl), Stephanie Mellen, Josh Mellen, Amanda Mellen and Candace Mellen; sisters Betty Lampher of South Beloit, IL and Delores Williams and her husband Tom of Keller, TX; brother William Thorson and his wife Elona of Beloit, WI. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by Robert and Mildred Stroul whom raised her following the death of her mother when she was two years old. She was also preceded in death by a son Thomas Mellen and a daughter Debbie Stuart; two sisters Dorothy Thorson and Barbara Nielsen and brothers Donald, Richard and David Thorson A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville with Pastor Kelly Mellen officiating.
