Ned Zander Sizemore (90) of Cottageville, WV peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
Ned was born on November 7, 1932, to Lambert Luther and Goldie Dorsey Sizemore (Hershberger) in Widen, WV. Ned attended Clay County High School. He was drafted into the United States Army April 1953. In his service role of Private First Class, he served in the 29th Infantry during the Korean War. He was stationed in Fort Benning, GA. Ned was 1 of 6 brothers to serve in the military.
Ned started working for Kaiser Aluminum May 2, 1959 and retired from Ravenswood Aluminum June 30, 1994.
Ned will be remembered as having a big heart, hence his nickname “Big Hearted Ned”. He was an avid fan of many sports, but most passionate about his golf game.
Ned was preceded in death by his parents Lambert Luther and Goldie Sizemore (Hershberger) of Procious, WV; loving wife of 66 years, Doris Lilly Samples Sizemore of Cottageville, WV; and daughter Penny Sizemore Mossor of Cottageville, WV.
Ned is survived by son Kim (Jan) Sizemore of Cottageville, WV; granddaughter Christy Sizemore of Cottageville, WV; grandson Matthew (Tabitha) Sizemore of Cottageville, WV; grandson Nicholas (Kathryn) Mossor of Evans, WV; great grandson Zander Sizemore of Cottageville, WV; great granddaughter Sophia Mossor of Evans, WV; son-in-law David Mossor of Cottageville, WV; sister Nancy Cruikshank of Clinton, OH; and many nieces & nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held for both Ned & Doris at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley, WV on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cottageville Chapel Church at P.O. Box 177, Cottageville, WV 25239.
