Norlan G. Rhodes

Norlan Gard Rhodes, 73, of Fairplain passed away very unexpectedly on Thursday, June 18, 2020. He was born May 22, 1947 at Fairplain a son of the late Alvin Gard and Tressie Litton Rhodes. Norlan was a heavy equipment operator for UCCI and also served in the Army Reserves. He enjoyed riding his Harley, coin collecting, trading guns, hunting and camping. But above all he loved his family dearly. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Louise Cummings Rhodes; daughters Shelia Murray (Delmer) of Sandyville, Valerie Shuler (Brent) of Pt. Pleasant, Hailey Parsons (Sean) of Evans and Lindsey Gregory (Chris) of Elkview; brothers Gordon Rhodes (Maryann) of Ripley and Jeff Rhodes of Chatanooga, TN; sisters Lillian Fisher (Ira) of Ripley, Nora Cunningham of Mineral Wells and Julie Gerwig (Tim) of Florida; grandchildren Ben Gandee, Tyler Murray, Chase Nicholson, Tori Nicholson, Liz Shuler, Mattie Shuler, Jacob Shuler, Bella Johnson, Randi Mae Parsons, Skyler Gregory and Jagger Gregory. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Fisher. A funeral service to celebrate Norlan’s life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23rd at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastors Benjamin Riggleman and Danny Cummings officiating. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fairplain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ripley American Legion Post 107 to help with future motorcycle rides.
