Nova Wanda (Clendenin) Casto, 96, of Kenna passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the home of her daughter.
Nova was born August 19, 1929, at Kenna, WV, a daughter of the late Sanford Lee and Ethel (Miller) Clendenin. She will be remembered by her family for being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She also had a passion for reading and sharing reading with others. She worked for 22 years as a library clerk for the Kanawha County Public Library as well as volunteering and helping others to learn to read. Nova was a Christian by faith and was a member of the Elk Hills Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children Douglas Alan Casto and Jennifer Louise Casto Settle (Jim); grandchildren Melissa Clarice Jackson (Brandyn), Zachary Curtis Settle and Nathan James Settle (Aniela); great-grandchildren Hanna Stogsdill (Mike), Eric Shick, Kaden Jackson and Lucy Jackson and two great-great-grandchidlren Leo and Elsie Stogsdill. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Nova was preceded in death by her daughter Bettina Gail Casto, great-grandson Cas Shick and siblings Jarrel Clendenin, Denver “Buddy” Clendenin, Winifred “Sis” Harrison, Sylvia Watson and Dolly Miller Harpold.
A memorial service to celebrate Nova’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 15th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor James Robinson officiating.
