OG Britton, of Ripley, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on September 27, 2019 The only child of the late Gail and Helen Lillian Smith Britton, he was born on March 20, 1935 in Newell, WV. A Veteran of the Korean War, he was assigned to Ripley while serving as a WV State Trooper. He wore many hats during his life in Ripley including: Volunteer Fireman, Commander of the American Legion, and City Judge, to name a few. OG enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was also fond of the many family pets throughout the years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jennifer. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty years, Delores K Lee Britton; daughters Angela Barnette, Alicia Britton, Lorrie (Ed) Graves, Janie Scarberry, Erica Lehew; and son Robbie Britton. Also Surviving are Chelsea & Carrie Barnette, Jacob (Michelle), Trevor & Josh Graves, Krista (Kel) Minter, Kyler & Rachel Scarberry and Griffin McCue, and twelve great grandchildren. OG has donated his body to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry, HIs final place of rest will be Fairplain Cemetery. Family and friends will celebrate his life beginning at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1st, at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Ripley Volunteer Fire Department or Jackson County Special Olympics.
