Oman "Jack" Casto

Oman "Jack" Casto Oman J. "Jack" Casto, 81, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Canton, Ohio, following an extended illness. He was born August 18, 1931 near Ripley, the first of 22 children born to the late Oman and Mildred Benson Casto. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from LTV Inc., formerly Republic Steel, in Massilon, Ohio. Jack was also a member of the Community Freewill Baptist Church in Canal Fulton, Ohio. On June 4, 1961, Jack married Geraldine Marie Woodfell, a union that survived and thrived until his death. Although childless, Jack and Geraldine were Mom and Dad to countless youngsters throughout the years and, more recently, Jack was known as Pawpaw to many children, including a multitude of nieces and nephews. Surviving, in addition to his wife: Brothers, Donald (Alice) Casto, Dean (Liz) Casto and Dennis (Linda) Casto, all of Ripley, Roger (Mary) Casto of Pt. Pleasant, WV,Darrell (Jo) Casto of Parkersburg, WV and John (Nora) Casto of Portland, OH; Sisters, Mary (Dale) McKeown of Cambridge, OH, Betty Davis of Mineral Wells, WV, Dorothy Anderson of Kenna, WV, Barbara (Don)Simons and Linda (Clarence)Westfall, both of Ripley and Peggy Schoffler and Sharon (Jim) Bryant of Howell, MI; Brother-In-Law, Earl Folden of Ripley; Sister-In-Law Debbie Charleston (former wife of Stephen Casto, deceased); Special nephew, Allen Null; Countless nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents and brother Stephen, Jack was preceded in death by sisters, Leona Johnson, Nola Folden and Jo Ann Simons and mother-in-law, Mildred Woodfell. Funeral services are set for Saturday, December 15 at 1 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Kendrick of the Community Freewill Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Woodfell Cemetery, Aplin Ridge. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
