Phyllis Dorene (Kerns) Grady, 83 of the Joes Run Community, Sandyville, passed away January 11, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family, following a long illness. She was born October 7, 1934 in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Ace and Verna Snyder Kerns. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Phyllis was a faithful member of the Mt. Hope Church of God. She was instrumental in establishing and maintaining the Joes Run Community Building. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Elmer Lee Grady; son-in-law, Wetzel Don Stover; sisters Georgia Burton, Una Belle Waskey and Dorothy Ohse-Pyles and brothers, Junior Ray Kerns and Donald Snyder. She is survived by her sons Richard (Coleen “Cookie”) Grady and Randall (Kathy) Grady of Sandyville; daughters Lisa (David) Hinzman of Sandyville and Linda (Steve) Donohew of Evans; her sisters, Mary Casto, Ruth Kerns, Joyce Coon; brothers Clayton (Patsy) Kerns and John (Linda) Kerns; her grandchildren Alisha (Jason) Wilson, Amanda (Daris) Harper, Ashley (Chad) Morris, Kristy (Ben) Harrison, Brent Grady, Hannah Grady, Michael Sarah) Hinzman, Amber (Daniel) Curry, Matthew Hinzman, Stacy McCune, Mylinda Smith, Josh Donohew and Jeremy Donohew; great grandchildren Caleb Wilson, Grady Wilson, Kaitlyn Holbert, Levi Holbert, Kade Morris, Hunter Harrison, Fisher Harrison, Warren Hunter, Brylee Hunter, Trenton Hunter, Jase McCune, Syrus McCune, Bradley Smith, Autumn Smith, Victoria Haynes, Leah Curry and Hope Curry. Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastors Creel Kerns and Bob Keen officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
