Rachel Lynn Torres, 40 of Ripley passed away suddenly on October 4, 2022 at her home.
She was born August 28, 1982 in Charleston, daughter of Leo and Rita Smith Torres of Ripley. Rachel was a graduate of Ripley High School with the Class of 2000 and also a graduate of West Virginia University where she obtained a Masters Degree in Preschool Special Needs. She has been a teacher with Kanawha County Schools since 2008 and was presently teaching Preschool at Sissonville Elementary School. She loved being a teacher and always went above and beyond for her students so they would have a good start to their school years. Rachel was full of life and always worked to bring out the best in other people. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and caring for them.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her siblings, Samantha (Chad) Sergent, Adam (Melissa) Torres, Tabby Torres, Trudie (Roger) Shamblin and J.D. Torres. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
A time of visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Private burial will be in the Smith Cemetery, Ripley.
