R.H. "Dick" Gobble Richard Howard "Dick" Gobble, 80, of Ripley, passed away Friday evening, February 14, 2014, at the Ravenswood Care Center following an extended illness. He was born December 29, 1933 at Nellis in Boone County, son of the late Howard and Fern Clendennin Gobble.He was a graduate of Scott High School and a proud Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from the casting department of Century Aluminum, (Kaiser) with over 40 years of service, was a member of Masonic Lodge #16 at Ripley, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite member and a Shriner. Dick was also an Eagle Scout and had been active in the Boy Scouts in Ripley, including scout leader for troop 439 in Ripley for many years and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a devout Christian and a member of the West Ripley Church of Christ. Surviving: Sons, Richard H. "Rick" Gobble II (Kim) of Ripley and Edward Gobble (Tina) of Raleigh, NC; Grandchildren, Lindsey, Ritchie, Brittany and Mariah Gobble; Brothers, John Gobble of Danville, WV and Waitman Gobble (Ruth) of Kettering, Ohio; Sister, Fran Snodgrass (Steve) of Racine, WV; Sister in law, Reta Jo Vandlinde of Jackson, O. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Delores, in 2002. A celebration of the life of Dick Gobble will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Ernie Haynes officiating. Interment, with military graveside rites by Ripley American Legion Post 107, will follow the service at Jackson Memory Gardens, Cottageville. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dick's honor should be made to a charity of your choice.
