Richard Charles “Rick” Hardman, 73 of Kenna, passed away October 21, 2024 at Charleston Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born November 9, 1950 in Parkersburg, WV, son of the late William and Phyllis Brown Hardman. Rick was a graduate of Dunbar High School and following graduation he entered the US Army and served in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and was a weapons sharp shooter. He was a truck driver with Schneider Trucking for 22 years and prior to that he worked at the DuPont Plant in Bell for 13 years. Rick loved the country life riding on his tractor, driving his Gator side by side and woodworking. He was an avid reader and had a vast collection of books. His greatest joy in life was his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papaw.” Rick was a Christian and member of the Ripley Baptist Temple.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Tammy Skeen Hardman; daughters, Sarah (Steve) Browder, Mandy (Josh) Wedge and Elly (Brett) Barnette; son Wilson Hardman; sister, Bobbi Hill; brothers, Bill Hardman, Joe Hardman and Chris (Kelly) Hardman; his loving grandchildren, Wyatt and Wade Browder, Bella and Eli Wedge, Ava and Silas Hardman and Sutton and Harper Barnette; special nephew, Richie Skeen and special friends and porch sitters who talked politics and were problem solvers, Gary Lint and Rick Ross.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Hardman.

A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating.
